Lightbridge Academy recently broke ground at Durham Farms in Hendersonville, marking the preschool’s second location in Sumner County.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held previously February in Gallatin. The two locations are the first planned in Tennessee for school.

Representatives from Lightbridge Academy, Freehold Communities, Durham Farms, and Hendersonville city officials came together welcomed the preschool to the community as the popular masterplan’s first community-focused business.

The new facility is projected to open in late winter or early spring of 2022 at 351 Azalea Circle near The Farmhouse within the deveopment

During her remarks, franchisee Eilleen Johnson said took a moment to honor one of the project’s late partners, Patrick Leroy McCluskey.

“We know that he was a huge part of this vision and of this journey,” Johnson said.

Among those on hand for the event were Hendersonville Mayor Jamie Clary and Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kathleen Hawkins.

“Nothing excites a chamber of commerce more than watching the economy continue to grow and prosper,” Hawkins said, adding that Lightbridge “completes (the Durham Farms) community.”

Clary agreed, adding his support behind the preschool’s location, which he said has an impact on traffic.

“One is that you’re keeping people here in Hendersonville which means that they’re going to be spending more money in Hendersonville, which helps me build roads. The other is that by keeping people right here and being able to drop their kids off right here they’re not having to create traffic somewhere else, and I appreciate that very much.”
